How To Make Delectable Paneer Momos At Home?

Momos are prepared in two ways – Steamed Momos and Fried Momos. Again the fried paneer momos can be two types – Pan-Fried or Deep-fried. Although, people love fried momos but steamy momos are healthier for calorie-conscious people. There are special momo steamers out there, that will help you place the filled dough and get the right steam to come up with steamy hot momos. If you don’t have momos steamer, you can make use of a perforated plate that will be a slightly bigger vessel with water at the bottom and place momos on the plate to steam cook. A piece of advice – you can use an idly cooker as well to keep the dough filling and steam the momos. To make veg paneer momos healthier, you can use wheat flour instead of all-purpose or maida flour.
There can be taste differences but people and momos are a great way to be a quick appetizer or savoury brunch. Ingredients for Paneer Momos –
· Finely Chopped Cabbage
· Carrots & beans
· Spongy & Sot Paneer
· Salt & Soy
· Black Pepper
· Red Chilli Powder
· Chopped Onions
· Garlic
· Refined Oil
How To Make Delicious Paneer Momos?
Making Of Dough
· In a wide bowl, add all-purpose, maida, wheat flour, black pepper & salt
· Add water in small quantities and form a dough
· Knead it well and apply a bit of oil over the surface & cover with a wet cloth
· Keep it aside for around 20-30 minutes
Making Of Fillings
· Take a pan, and add 1-2 tablespoons of Oil
· Once the oil turns hot, add chopped garlic, onions & green chillies to it
· Keep frying it, until it turns a bit red
· Now add the finely chopped paneer
· Add salt and pepper powder
· Cook the fillings in high flame for around 4-5 mins
· This way your dough and stuffing are ready
Add Fillings To The Dough
· Now its time to shape and steam the Momos
· Divide the dough into 15-20 small pieces
· Take 1 piece and roll it into small circles with thin edges. Kind of puris
· Make sure it’s thin yet durable to hold the fillings enough
· Now place 1 tablespoon of stuffing in the centre of circle.
· Make it a half-moon shape and pleat the edges
Momo Making Process
Steamy Momos
· In the momo steamer or Idli cooker, add a bit of water & boil down. Place the separator and place all the paneer momos in it to steam.
· Steam cook the momos for around 15-20 minutes. Once cooked, the momos will be shiny and transparent.
· Don’t overcook them else they will turn rubber-like and hard.
· Take Momos on the plate and serve it with red hot chutneys or sauces
Fried Momos
· In a frying pan add some oil and start cooking it to medium to hot temperature
· Add momos and fry them for 6-8 minutes until they turn reddish brown
· Make sure you filter the oil well before you take them into the bowl
Serve them steamy paneer momos or fried paneer momos with schezwan chutneys, chilli sauces or mayo dips.
Things To Remember:
· Don’t make a thick dough. It won’t taste good
· You can make different kind of filling based on your taste buds
· Don’t keep the momos in the refrigerator. It will be hard and become rubber like.
· You can make it a bit spicy by adding chilli or schezwan paste whilst cooking onions & veggies.
Momos could be eaten alongside street food snacks such as vada pav, aloo chat, sevpuri, etc.
