OUR STORY

Looking for a much-needed break from the pandemic, my family and I decided to escape to Ladakh, also known as “The Little Tibet,” to celebrate life!

During our stay at the hotel, we were served Momos, a popular Nepali snack. As a foodie, I was eager to try them, but unfortunately, my first experience was quite disappointing. I found them to be bland and lacking flavor. However, everything changed when I met my friend Mahira, a chef from Nepal, a few days later.

She encouraged me to order Momos again, and despite my reservations, I decided to give it another shot. To my surprise, this time was completely different. The Momos were incredibly delicious, infused with perfect Indian spices and flavors. That experience transformed my perception of Momos forever. I shared my enthusiasm with Mahira, discussing the idea of bringing authentic Himalayan Momos to others.

Thus, on May 25, 2022, the concept of Hungry Q was born, aimed at delivering the authentic taste of Momos straight from their roots in Nepal and Tibet.

Overcoming Challenges

As we embarked on this journey, we encountered several questions about pricing, authenticity, taste, and health consciousness. To address these concerns, we invited friends over on a few Sundays to taste our creations and provide feedback.

After numerous experiments filled with laughter and memorable gatherings, we developed a couple of unique Momo varieties. Hungry Q strives to offer Momos that are pocket-friendly, accessible, and healthy for everyone.

Have you ever wondered what Momos taste like in Tibet or Nepal? With Hungry Q, you can experience authentic and delicious Momos straight from the "Heart of the Himalayas." We are passionate creators dedicated to improving culinary experiences.

The Choice for Handcrafted Momos

During our market research, we identified two main types of frozen Momos: machine-made and handcrafted. While we chose to focus on handcrafted Momos, it was important to highlight the significant issues associated with machine-made options. Our experiences and customer feedback revealed several key concerns:

  • Higher Breakage Rate: Machine-made Momos tend to have a higher breakage rate due to fast dough stretching, leading to increased waste and leaking fillings.
  • Compromised Juiciness: Many consumers noted that machine-made fillings often lack the juiciness and flavor found in handcrafted varieties due to ineffective sealing techniques.
  • Lack of Artistry: Customers frequently expressed a desire for the intricate designs that come with handcrafted Momos, finding machine-made versions visually unappealing.
  • Less Filling: Machine-made Momos often contain more empty space inside, leading to perceptions of lower value.
  • Thickness Issues: The even thickness of machine-made wrappers can lead to breakages or overly doughy textures, unlike the thoughtfully varied thickness of handcrafted wrappers.
  • Texture Degradation: The mechanical processes used for machine-made Momos can damage the texture of vegetable fillings, while handcrafted methods preserve their integrity.
  • Recognizing these gaps in the market, we sought out handcrafted frozen Momo manufacturers and discovered a significant lack of organized producers. Many existing manufacturers struggled with maintaining consistent quality and hygiene standards.

    Transition to Manufacturing

This realization prompted us to pivot from retail to becoming a dedicated manufacturer of handcrafted frozen Momos, addressing a larger market need. We closed our retail outlets and established a state-of-the-art facility focused on producing handcrafted Momos with a shelf life of six to twelve months, offering a diverse range of flavorful vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

Now, we concentrate exclusively on large-scale manufacturing of handcrafted frozen Momos, holding food safety certifications to ensure quality. Our products are distributed globally at affordable prices, thanks to our dedicated team of artisans who are passionate about the art of Momo making. As pioneers in handcrafted Momo manufacturing, we are proud to be one of the few companies in India solely dedicated to this craft, producing between 100,000 to 200,000 Momos daily.

    Commitment to Innovation

Our journey continues as we remain committed to innovation and quality. We are eager to explore new flavors and varieties of handcrafted Momos, enriching our product line and enhancing the overall consumer experience. At Hungry Q, every Momo tells a story, and we invite you to join us on this delicious adventure!
